Excellence in Character – Excellence in Education

HSMS Weekly Announcements

Successful Food Drive
The annual food drive to support the Harbor Springs Food Pantry was very successful. Our middle school students donated 601 items, and it was an excellent opportunity for them to be generous and give back to their community. We will celebrate that success on Tuesday with a movie shown in grade level classrooms.

Second Semester Registration
We have extended the deadline for making choices regarding second semester enrollment for “Online” or “Face-to-Face” instruction through November 29, 2020.  If you have already completed the Registration Form, you do not have to complete it again.  Please note the following:

  • You do not need to complete the form if your child is Face-to-Face 1st Semester and you want to continue Face-to-Face 2nd Semester
  • Complete the form if your child is currently “Online” and you want to continue “Online” 2nd Semester
  • Complete the form if your child is currently “Face-to-Face” and you want to switch to “Online” 2nd Semester
  • Complete the form if your child is currently “Online” and you want to switch to “Face-to-Face” 2nd Semester

Second semester starts January 25, 2021. Parents and students should note that online courses for second semester may involve a change in teachers or online providers.  HSPS teachers may or may not teach the same online courses second semester.  Online providers (such as Michigan Virtual or Lincoln Learning) may change as well depending on demand and staffing.

Be Ready Before It Snows

Before you know it, the temperatures will drop and snow will be in the air! If your children are in need of winter clothes and you could use some help, please fill out the  form, “Let It Snow.” You can either drop off the form in the MS office or email it directly to Mrs. McShannock, the MS Counselor.

COVID-19
Please continue to use the Student Health Screening Checklist daily. If your child has symptoms on the list, please call the school and follow the instructions by clicking on the link to the document below.

Student Absences
If your child is going to be absent for an extended period of time, please call the
attendance line and let Mrs. Mathews know the reason for the absence. Absent students will get work via Canvas or email. Their work will be different than online students because they will continue with the curriculum that was being taught in class.
