Megan McShannock – Counselor

Welcome to Harbor Springs Middle School Counseling Office

Let me start by telling you a little bit about myself…

After graduating from Central Michigan University in 1998, I made the big move to Harbor Springs to be a sixth grade teacher. In 2004, I received my Master of Arts degree in Counseling from CMU. The following school year, I became the part-time middle school counselor and continued to teach part-time as well. The 2019-2020 school year marks my fifteenth year as the school counselor and twenty-second year as a teacher. I truly enjoy working with students in the classroom, in small groups, and individually. The middle school years are such a time of growth and change that I never know what the day will bring. When I am not at school working, I spend time with my husband, Scott, seventeen-year-old daughter, Madelaine, eleven-year-old son, Benjamin, and nine-year-old daughter, Lillian.

Please feel free to contact me at 526-4756 or email me at

My office is located between the 600 and 700 academic wings. I look forward to assisting you in any way possible to make your student’s middle school years a success and positive experience.
