In 1998, I graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art Education. I began teaching Art in the suburbs of Chicago in 1998. From 2002 to 2003, while still teaching, I traveled in the evenings to earn my Master of Science Degree in Art Education from Northern Illinois University.
The 2020-2021 school year is my 23rd year teaching art. I teach art to students in Kindergarten-Fifth grade. A few years ago, I transitioned to a choice-based model of art education called TAB. TAB stands for Teaching for Artistic Behavior and is a nationally recognized model of art education. This change has been the very best move for my students. Everyday students learn new artistic concepts or techniques, then they each design and create their own works of art. Everyday my students are innovative and creative, plus their artwork is authentic!
Personally, I love living in beautiful Harbor Springs with my husband, daughters, and 2 rescued dogs. My favorite pastimes include painting, drawing, kayaking, downhill skiing, and spending lots of time with my wonderful family and friends!
