We are RESPONSIBLE,
RESPECTFUL, & READY TO LEARN!

Letter to Families:

I am extremely excited for a year of adventure and learning together.  We will spend a great deal of time together as we delve into books to explore, question, and research.  Reading is our ticket to exploring the world and enjoying adventure within the stories we read. Personally, reading is a part of my daily life, and I hope to share that  love of reading with your child. I read for enjoyment, to learn, and to continue my development as an educator as learning is a lifelong practice. In 2012, I received a bachelor’s degree in education from Western Michigan University, (go Broncos!) and I am currently seeking a Master of Education in Literacy Studies (K-12) from Grand Valley State University.  I absolutely love learning alongside my students, and I enjoy trying out new ideas with them as I work through my schooling. Other than teaching and learning, my most favorite “hobby” is playing with our sweet one year old daughter, Clara! Becoming a mother has been my greatest adventure yet, which allows me deep appreciation for your trust in me as I spend my days caring for and learning with your child this year.  I do believe that you are your child’s first teacher, but I am honored to take part in his or her journey this year! Along with Clara, my husband and I enjoy being at the beach and boating in the summer, downhill skiing and snowmobiling in the winter, and hiking during all times of the year. We also enjoy playing with our yellow lab named Harbor and our cat named Florida. My family and I adore being a part of this community and have loved calling Harbor Springs “home” for the past six years.  While all in Harbor Springs, I have enjoyed teaching second grade for three years, and this will be my third year teaching fourth grade. I enjoy working with kids of all ages, but I consider fourth grade to be a very special year in development.
