A Message from Ms. Talcott, Yearbook Advisor
Hello Middle School Parents, Coaches and Staff,
Firstly, thank you for your patience and understanding with last year’s yearbook.
Middle school yearbook copies that were ordered last year are being dispersed this week. Email me directly with any purchasing questions you may have. We are looking forward to using Lakeshore Photography [regionally based] as our vendor for yearbook construction and printing this year, a change from last year. In preparation for this year’s yearbook, I [Ms. Talcott] am reaching out for photo submissions from our school community! We are looking for 5th-8th grade events, athletics, school life candids and staff pictures from this school year to use within this year’s yearbook. Images, taken with a phone or camera, can be emailed to me directly or put into the linked Google Drive folder system by following the directions below.
1) Click on this link
2) Upload images in the corresponding labeled folder
I so appreciate your time and help to make this the most memorable yearbook possible! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
All the best,
HSPS No-Tax Increase Bond Proposal
Our school district is preparing to place a no tax-rate increase bond proposal on the May 2022 ballot. During November, the District is inviting staff, parents, and community members to give their input prior to finalizing ballot language for the proposal in December. All HSPS community members are invited to view a 5-minute video about the bond projects under consideration. After viewing the video, please participate in a brief survey developed by an independent Michigan-based survey research firm. Your confidential responses to the survey will provide valuable information that will help the Board of Education finalize the ballot proposal that will be on the May 2022 ballot. The video and survey are open through midnight on Saturday, November 27th. Please help us by viewing the video and completing the survey during that period. HSPS Bond Proposal Video Link

Boyne’s discounted ski pass for students in grades 6-12 is now available for the season. You will need the code on this PDF, and you will need to visit the Freeride website for instructions and purchasing information.
8th Grade Fundraiser
8th Grade students will be selling Piper’s Pizza Coupons to raise money for their Chicago trip in June. See this PDF for more information and connect with an 8th grade student to place an order for coupons.
Cell Phone Policy:
Cell phones are not allowed to be in use between 8:00-3:00 on the middle school campus. If you send your child to school with a cell phone, please reiterate to them that phones should be kept off and out of sight throughout the day. Please review our HSPS policy below.
Learning.com Technology Curriculum
This year our middle school students will explore the Learning.com technology curriculum to learn more about internet safety, cyberbullying, and essential technology skills. Our fifth grade students rotate through a technology class every 3 days, and Mr. Geyer uses Learning.com to facilitate many of their technology lessons. Our sixth through eighth grade students will begin using the platform this week in their science classes. Mrs. Gorney and Mrs. Polleys will introduce the platform and give students time to begin the self-paced, asynchronous lessons. Students are encouraged to spend time on Leanring.com when they are caught up in their other classes or when they have spare time and want to expand their technology skills. Parents can preview lessons and explore the curriculum by visiting the Learning.com website.
Drop Off Lanes 2-way Traffic
The north lane in the middle school loop is for two-way traffic. Please keep the left lane clear for traffic entering the school campus.
