Nail ArtHairstyleHaristyleCosmetology is a dynamic field that combines artistic creativity with scientific principles to enhance and maintain personal appearance. This professional discipline encompasses a wide range of specialized services, including hair styling and cutting, skincare, nail care, and makeup application. Licensed cosmetologists must understand complex chemical processes involved in hair treatments, the anatomy of skin and hair, safety protocols, and sanitation requirements. They also need to stay current with evolving beauty trends and techniques while maintaining professional standards set by state boards. This field requires both technical expertise and interpersonal skills. Careers range from salon stylists and spa technicians to platform artists and beauty educators!

Anne Tomshack, Cosmetology instructor, has conducted a couple of 'contests' to help highlight the work that her students have done. There was a Holiday contest with some nail designs and hairstyles that were appropriate for the season, and most recently a Valentine's day contest.

This course is offered at Harbor Springs High School, and like all Char-Em CTE programs, it is open to any student, from any district. Learn more about the Cosmetology program in the accompanying video and online.
